Biography
Trademarks, books, posters, publicity. Born 25 February 1904 in Cologne. First studied at the Kunstgewerbeschule, Offenbach a.M.: a teacher was Rudolf Koch. 1925-30: studied at the Vereinigte Staatschulen für freie und angewandte Kunst, Berlin, where one of his teachers was E.R. Weiss. 1933-40: freelance work, particularly for the publisher Scherl. Also designed carpets, murals, illustrated children’s books for the publisher Atlantis. Military service, followed by internment as prisoner-of-war. From 1946: freelance. From 1950: taught drawing at the Berlin Hochschule für Bildenden Künste. Died 1965 in Berlin.
