Biography
Posters, packaging, sculpture. Born Moritz Martin Willy Wolff on 5 July 1905 in Dresden (and where he spent almost his entire life). 1927-33: studied at the Dresden Academy of Arts; a teacher was Richard Müller. 1930: member of ASSO Dresden (Assoziation Revolutionärer Bildender Künstler Deutschlands). From 1933: Meisterschüler of Otto Dix, then freelanced in Dresden. 1936, 1938: exhs. at Städtischen Kunsthalle, Dresden. 1940-45: military service and prisoner-of-war. Early 1945: much of his work destroyed in the air raid on Dresden. 1957, 1958: visited UK; his work influenced by Pop Art. Died 8 July 1985 in Dresden. His work in Museumsverein der Stadt Forst (Lausitz).
