Biography
Posters, stamps, logos, bindings, illustrations, type. Born 26 May 1882 in Aschersleben. 1904-8: studied at the Kunstgewerbemuseum, Berlin: a teacher was Emil Orlik. 1908-12: freelanced. 1912-15: taught at the Kunstgewerbemuseum, Berlin. Designed the typeface Buhe-Fraktur (1915, Stempel). 1920-46: taught applied art at the Leipzig Akademie für graphische Künste und Buchgewerbe. In 1925 he designed stained-glass windows for the Stephaneum, Aschersleben. He had designed books for Cotta, S. Fischer, Ullstein and other publishers. Died 22 December 1958 in Leipzig.
