Paul Helms

Biography

Woodcuts, trademarks, textile design, publicity. Born 11 September 1884 in Hamburg. After training as a lithographic printer, he studied at the Hamburg Kunstgewerbeschule: a teacher was Carl Otto Czeschka. 1908-c1930: taught textile design at the Hamburg Kunstgewerbeschule. By 1934: designed carpets, textiles, embroidery, altar hangings. Died 1961 at Hamburg-Hausbruch where he had lived since 1950.
