Biography
Posters, publicity, ceramics, stamps. Born 12 January 1903 in Strassburg. His father (Joseph) Eugène (1880-1923) was an artist. First trained at the Ecole des Arts décoratifs, Strassburg, then at the Akademie der bildenden Künste, Munich: a teacher was Julius Diez. 1925: in a Lufthansa poster competition he won 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th prizes. 1927: his success came with winning the Deutsche Bundesschiessen poster competition. He designed posters for theatre, travel, railway, post office and exhibitions, and murals for the Deutsches Museum. 1969-72: designed stamps for the Deutsche Bundespost. 1973: awarded the Schwabinger Kunst-preis (Art Prize). Member of the Vereinigung Münchener Plakatkünstler (Association of Munich Poster Artists). Died 4 July 1974 in Tutzing (Starnberger See).
