Biography
Typography, lettering. Born Heinz-Ulrich Renz 3 April 1922 in Bielefeld. 1937-9: studied commercial art at the Meisterschule des Deutschen Handwerks, Bielefeld. 1939-41: apprenticed as a letterer and lithographer. Immediately after the war, he worked in the Printing Stationery Officeof the British Army (occupying authority). 1947-51: studied at the Stuttgart Staatliche Akademie der Bildenden Künste: teachers included F.H. Ernst Schneidler and Walter Brudi. From 1957: freelanced in Stuttgart, particularly for publishers.
