Biography

Book design, publicity, packaging. Born 28 August 1894 in Hanau (Hesse). 1911-14: studied at the Kunstgewerbeschule, Offenbach a.M., where he was a student of Rudolf Koch. 1922: his Elfen-Fraktur issued by Stempel. c1924: lettered initials and titles at Bremer Presse, Munich. 1925-60: headed commercial art department at the Wuppertal Werkkunstschule. By 1949: Chief Editor of the journal Graphik. 1950: teaching in Bonn. By May 1952: chairman of the BDG Wuppertal-Bergisch group.
