Dora Mönkemeyer-Corty

Biography

Woodcuts, illustration, posters, packaging, trademarks. Born Dore Corty 27 April 1890 in Dresden. Wife of the painter Fritz Mönkemeyer (1888-?). Studied at the Dresden Kunstgewerbeschule. Free-lance designer in Dresden. She was designing posters by 1910; her posters and packaging designs were illustrated in the early issues of Gebrauchsgraphik, the influential journal of advertising art (see the Dresden issue, 1925, v. 3). Died 1973 in Dresden.
